More importantly, it boasts a loud alarm that you can hear easily when triggered. Plus, it alerts you when the paired phone moves out of range.

The setup process is no rocket science. First, you need to download the Chipolo app on your Android phone and pair it to the tracker.

The app also lets you see the last known location, and if you cannot find it, you can always use the ‘Ring to find’ option. As noted earlier, the ring is loud, and it goes up to 20 dB.

So far, the Chipolo One has earned many positive reviews. Users love it for its long battery life and easy-to-use nature, and the fact that one can almost pinpoint the exact location.

The Galaxy SmartTag uses Bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology to locate the objects attached to it. This tracker uses the SmartThings app and SmartThings Find module to connect and locate. However, there’s a slight catch. The SmartTag works only with Samsung Galaxy phones. That said, locating the tracker is carried out easily with the paired phone. Plus, the ringtone volume is decent and gets the work done.

Installing the product is a little complicated. On the positive side, the app gives you several options to locate the tracker or ring it. Moreover, you can program some nifty If-This-Then-That-like commands. The latter is especially helpful if you have other Samsung smart products.

When the tracker is lost, it uses other Galaxy smartphones to locate the tracker’s BLE signal. Think of it almost like an Android version of an AirTag from Samsung.

  1. I am on the board of a condominium. We are looking for ways to track keys that are used by contractors providing services to our building. That means that we require tracking only at specific times.
Also, the automatic alarm if the tracker is out of range for a specific time is a problem, not an asset, for our needs. However, it is understandable that the feature is not switchable, because that would make them very useful for stalking or tracking another person.
